Golf Simulator Cost: First Year vs Three Years

The launch monitor price is only one line of the budget. Compare systems using the same list of equipment, software and room work, otherwise a cheap-looking option can hide costs you still have to pay.

This worksheet is a planning method, not a promise about resale value, maintenance or future subscription prices.

Use four separate totals

1. Equipment: launch monitor, stance mat, net or screen/enclosure, PC, TV or projector, mounts, protection and cables.
2. Required access: the chosen simulation software plus any required hardware membership or connector fee.
3. Room and delivery: tax, shipping, electrical work, structural mounting and installation.
4. Optional spending: premium course content, cosmetic lighting, upgrades and accessories you can defer.

For each line, record whether it is an exact configured quote, an advertised starting price, an unresolved cost or something already owned. Do not subtract an owned PC until you have checked the required specification and connections.

First-year and three-year calculation

First year = equipment + installation/delivery + first-year required fees.

Three years = first-year total + two further years of recurring fees + any separately budgeted replacements.

Renewal dates may not align with calendar years. Trial periods, price changes and one-time purchases can change the calculation. A three-year estimate at today's rates is not a three-year price guarantee.

An equipment example with unresolved costs

The example uses published catalog ranges and shows unresolved costs. Until the PC, display, selected software path and room work are verified, neither a complete first-year nor a three-year total is known. Check current GSPro pricing and renewal terms for your actual license.

Check the easy-to-miss items

• A mat insert is not always a stance mat. Check what supports your feet and whether the insert is level with it.
• An enclosure kit may not include pipes. Carl's DIY kit includes its screen and fittings, with pipes sold separately unless added. Included parts.
• A required membership may be additional to GSPro. Check the connection and membership guide.
• A projector price is not an installed display price. Count mounting, cables and any professional work your room needs.
• A retractable screen is not a complete storage solution. Plan the mat, monitor and wiring too.

When to spend less

Start with a net and TV if projection is optional. Reuse equipment only after checking compatibility. Keep the mat, ball containment and room-clearance requirements intact; choose fewer optional features rather than treating necessary protection as an upgrade.

If the full first-year total exceeds the budget, delay the purchase or choose another complete route. Do not compare a complete projector build against the launch-monitor-only price of its alternative.
