Planning a Golf Simulator With a $5,000 Budget

Compare a net and TV equipment example, published catalog prices, unresolved PC and display costs, and the room checks needed before buying.

Verified· 2026-10-26Getting Started

A $5,000 spending limit needs a complete equipment list before it needs a launch monitor. A net with a separate TV is one route to investigate because it avoids the initial projector, impact-screen and mounting purchases.

This is a researched equipment example, not a tested build or a promise that the finished room costs less than $5,000. The PC, display, exact variants and protection still need specifications and quotes.

Start with the known prices and open questions

Researched equipment example, not a complete purchase quote or a hands-on test. Room fit, exact variants, PC, display and installation still need checking.

Choose products and check your room in the build dashboard

Consider this layout if: you want indoor practice and course play, can use a Windows PC, and are comfortable looking at a separate display.

Consider another route if: hitting into the projected course is central to the experience, you need outdoor tracking, or you want an installed package. Compare the projector planning options.

Check the equipment together

Square documents its GSPro connector and the separate GSPro license requirement. Its FAQ explains indoor use, marked-ball spin measurement and native course credits. Verify the model and software path you intend to use. Square FAQ, GSPro connection.

Choose a stance surface and hitting insert that suit your layout. A small insert alone does not establish a supported, level stance. Check the mat's exact configuration.

The computer and display are unresolved purchases until you choose them or verify equipment you own. Compare GSPro's current requirements with our PC checklist. Owning a computer does not establish that it supports the selected software.

Check the room before spending

Start with Carl's room-planning guidance, then the exact equipment manuals. A general room recommendation is not a safe-swing guarantee. Check the final mat height, full swing path, screen or net clearances, and both handedness needs.

Keep the TV, windows, cables and other fragile items outside the ball and swing paths. Light control and impact protection solve different problems. Use the room-aware dashboard to keep relevant tasks and unresolved costs visible.

When the budget is ready to compare

Include the configured equipment, PC, display, protection, software, shipping, tax and room preparation before judging the total. Unquoted items are not free. Mark an item owned only after verifying its suitability; required recurring fees still apply.

The guide's catalog subtotal changes with the published catalog. It does not claim a complete first-year or three-year price. Use the ownership-cost worksheet to check what remains.
